RIDING THE SPECIALIZED ALLEZ PRO

With everything complete and double checked, I fitted my pedals, put on my nearly worn out riding shoes and joined the Specialized for a bit of well scrutinized road test time.

Well, the Specialized Allez Pro proved to be all that it should be.  The bicycle accelerated well, handled predictability and felt pretty good doing it.  A stable racing bicycle, to say the least.  About the only complaint, I could offer, deals with the lack of luggage rack or fender eyelets.  Of course, the Specialized Allez Pro is a racing bicycle, not a commuter.  And I knew that at the start of the project.

Shortly after beginning a riding season with the Pro, my riding habits were to take a sudden change.  I retired from work and saw the need to downsize my personal collection of bicycles  Deciding to stick primarily with my Canadian road bikes, I let the Specialized go.  My loss and someone else's gain I suppose.  But I do wonder, from time to time, if the bicycle would have continued to grow on me.  It was a pretty good ride.

The Specialized Allez Pro is the second "Junk Bike" that I have sold on-line.  It seems that other people understand the value of riding an ugly bike, if ugly is really the right word.  The other "Junk Bike" by the way, was a very scruffy but great to ride Peugeot PS28.

Just a wee update to this story.  The Allez Pro is long gone, and Spring approaches.  My Peugeot "Poor Boy" was sold at the end of last riding season, and guess what...?

This year's "Junk Bike" has already been selected for the JBB - Junk Bike Build.  And what kind of bike is it this time?  Another Specialized that someone else had already Junked UP for me.  I might add that this year's "Junk Bike" was a stolen bicycle, and one of a few that entered The Old Shed last Summer.
