CANNONDALE 400 - INTRODUCTION Two Cannondales, the 400 presented here, and a Team Comp, have entered the Old Shed and fell into the clamps of my work stand. The 400 was in very nice shape "as found" and, even though the price was a bit higher than I was used to paying, I decided to buy the bike anyway. I bought it with no intention of ever riding it. I bought the Cannondale 400 with the intention to sell it when I had a chance to do so. By the time the Cannondale 400 came my way I was quite actively into buying and selling vintage road bicycles. I had developed a number of good and some not so good methods for finding vintage road bicycles that I could not possibly keep all that were coming my way. Had I done so, my collection at the time of this writing would exceed 400 vintage bikes. As it is, my present collection of eight Canadian made vintage road bicycles and a half dozen roadsters is all that I can handle. That said, if the right bicycle comes my way, it too will be built up, ridden and added to my collection of neat old bikes. However, the Cannondale 400 did not qualify even though it is a fine bicycle. NEXT - FINDING THE CANNONDALE 400
