STEVE BAUER SIROCCO - INTRODUCTION

Steven Bauer was a Canadian road racer who, in 1977 joined the Canadian national cycling team, where he would remain a member, until turning professional in 1985.  Successful at both the domestic and international levels, Steve is credited, for being instrumental in helping, to smooth the way for, younger riders hoping for the next opportunity to be the best.

There were two distinctively different Steve Bauer bicycles, and even a German made Bauer.  Though I have seen pictures of the German bicycle, I have never seen even a picture of a Canadian Made Steve Bauer.  The Asian made version, however; is a completely different story.  Several have come my way, over the years.

Abbey's Steve Bauer is of Asian origin, and that was immediately clear thanks to an all but rubbed off Made in Taiwan sticker fitted near the bottom of the head tube.  Other than that, the paint an art on this old Asian steed was in pretty decent condition.

Though few Made in Taiwan road bicycles have managed to find their way into The Old Shed, this mid-level Steve Bauer Sirocco would have to rank amongst the nicest.
