RIDING THE FIRST ZEUS SUPER ALPHA The Zeus Alpha and I did not spend a great deal of time together. I acquired the bicycle fairly early in my vintage road bicycle collecting career, if that is the word to best describe my interests at the time. In those early days of collecting and riding vintage road bicycles, I had a tendency to turn my nose up at anything that was not high end. A mistake on my part, but time would offer me the opportunity to change how I felt about the issue. Once I had taken the time to check the Zeus over, I hopped on and took off. I was less than impressed with this Old School ride and quickly decided to let the Zeus go. It shifted slowly and handled poorly, in my opinion. The bicycle seemed to be very heavy and, as is often the case, was too big for me to ride properly. To those issues, I added the discomfort offered by the plastic saddle and non-adjustable handlebars. All in all, nothing really impressed me about the ride qualities that the Zeus had to offer. With that in mind and an Old Shed over flowing with vintage road bicycles, I decided to put the Zeus up for auction on Ebay. The bicycle sold first round and that was about that for my first Zeus road bicycle. NEXT - FINDING THE SECOND ZEUS ALPHA
