FUJI THE ACE - INTRODUCTION

HOW I WISH THIS ONE HAD FIT!

Few bicycles surface that are really unusual.  This beautiful 1973 Fuji The Ace was one that sticks, in my mind.  The bicycle featured a full first generation Dura Ace grouppo and that too remains as a good memory.  The The Ace (that is not a typo - the model is The Ace) was the first, and only bicycle, that I have run across with such a grouppo, and I am looking for another.  I like to have the opportunity to compare, the best of the best to the best, whenever I get the chance and, to date, I have not had a fair opportunity to test the first generation Dura Ace stuff.

The Fuji was way too big for me, as is often the case with old road bikes that I find, but I rode it anyway.  I truly liked the feel of the bike.  The The Ace is hardly a spectacular looking bicycle, considering its drab silver/grey paint and less than outstanding art work.  It  is, however, a very good bicycle.  One that certainly falls into the highly collectable category.  Perhaps another will come my way one day.
