RIDING THE ALAN SUPER RECORD

With the bicycle built, double checked and checked again, I installed a set of clip in pedals, tucked a couple of tools into the hip pocket of my jeans, and took off on the ALAN.  I must admit, I was quite excited, perhaps even expectant.

Expectant?  A complete bicycle build is a complex process.  The smallest thing over looked can spell trouble, or, at the very least, problems.  With that in mind, I test slowly and carefully, asking more and more of the bicycle as my confidence builds.

And my confidence, in the ALAN built quickly.  The bicycle was incredibly agile, when compared to most others I was familiar with.  Perhaps that light feel was a product of the bicycle's actual lightness.  Perhaps it was just an imagination conditioned to expect something akin to what I did feel when I rode the bike.

Over the next few weeks, the ALAN proved to be a wonderful bicycle to ride.  Sadly, I did not get enough time to ride it a great deal since our Bicycles for Humanity group ran into a bit of trouble, and much of my time was used up trying to help sort things out.

And, to add insult to injury, an opportunity surfaced to sell the bicycle and I decided to let it go.  Sadly, I tore the bicycle apart, fitted it carefully into a mailing size box and shipped it off to Taiwan.  My guess is it should be there by now.
