VITUS 979 - INTRODUCTION ONE GREAT FRENCH BICYCLE! Few bicycles have impressed me as much as this made in France eighties something Vitus 979. This glued together bicycle was a treat to ride but a bit too flexible for a guy my size. Even though the Vitus fit like a glove and rode like a charm, I decided to let the bicycle go. Although I must admit that I do miss the wonderful ride. I will always keep an eye out for another Vitus, though I know in my heart that such a flexible bicycle is not for me. I am positive that sooner or later, I would break the frame set. I have owned several made in France bicycles, including Peugeot, Gitane, Le Jeune, Mercier, Monfort and even an Automoto. Not one of those other bicycles could hold a candle to the quality of the Vitus, both in ride and presentation. The Vitus 979 was and still is a gem! And it might well have been the lightest vintage road bicycle to ever be included in my humble collection, rivalled only by a similar vintage Italian ALAN that also came in under the twenty pound mark
