CARLTON PROFESSIONAL - INTRODUCTION

Of all the bicycles I have ever found, only one has found me and that one was extremely desirable, from both the collector's and rider's points of view.  Few bicycles that have come and gone, in my ever changing collection of vintage road bicycles, have ever been considered true favourites.  There are probably three that come to mind, my Marinoni Quebec, Miele LTD and this 1971 Carlton Professional that showed up one day.  It found me.

And as soon as it did find me, I entered into some pretty serious research.  I wanted to know as much as I could about this incredible old road bicycle.  And the more I learned, the more impressed I became!

The Carlton Professional was the top of the line racer from a top of the line company.  At least that is the impression that I came away with after studying the Carlton's heritage.  And after spending two seasons with this gorgeous old bicycle, I can fully understand why.
