RIDING THE SEKINE SHT270 SINGLE SPEED
I have converted lots of old "Ten Speeds" to "Single Speed" design. The projects are always fun to implement, and the resulting bicycles are is a hoot to ride around town. The bikes are light and responsive, when compared to their original state. They are clean in appearance. In addition, an entry level converted "Single Speed" is a fairly hot commodity, with the younger generation these days. Fun to build, easy to ride and value increasing. What else could one ask for? Though this particular Sekine and I, did not see a great deal of riding time together, I did spend quite a bit of time test riding another one, that I also converted. That bike proved to be nice to ride, perfect for its intended purpose. The bicycle was nimble, or at least I thought so. Invasive thoughts of shifting never rear their ugly heads, as the bike just accelerates or slows, banks and turns, as it glides, from here to there. And it is the non-invasive nature of the "Single Speed" bicycle that will capture you, if you give it a chance to do so.
