RIDING THE PEUGEOT COURSE PB12

Simply put, and in spite of the fact that the frame was too big, the PB12 was one of those bicycles that seemed to work perfectly, for me.  I was inspired at how easily this bike accelerated, and how little effort it took to keep it going.  Handling was a non-issue.  I felt as if the bicycle had been built just for me.  I know, this all sounds a bit much, but some bicycles do impact me that way.  They have a special, hard to define, feel that I have run across, only a very few times.  It is rare that I let such bicycles go and I seriously considered keeping this gorgeous old road bike.  Even my wife commented on the Peugeot's virtues, suggesting that I should keep it.  That was the one and only time she ever expressed her opinion about one of my bikes.  The PB12 was that nice.

Though I started out for a short test ride, things changed and I disappeared for the afternoon.  Of course, my wife called me during that wonderful ride.  She wanted to know where I was, and scold me for failing to announce my lengthy ride intentions.  I did, sheepishly, attempt to defend myself, by mentioning what a great ride I was having, but she showed little interest.  After a life threatening mishap, a few years earlier, she always worries about me when I am off by myself riding.

In all fairness to my wife, she is right and I should not just take off.  And, I will feel bad the next time I do it. Today, I always carry my cell phone with me when riding.  A good idea!  Because, on the spur of the moment, I might end up thirty miles up the road, but I won't be out of touch.
