MARINONI "QUEBEC" - INTRODUCTION I have no idea what model this very early Marinoni is, however; I have chosen to call it a "Quebec". Marinoni bicycles were hand made in Canada and built in the province of Quebec. This particular model boldly proclaiming that fact on its beautiful fork crowns. I believe that Giuseppe Marinoni started his career in bicycling as a road racer and later turned his interests to frame building. As nearly as I can tell he learned his trade under one or more of the Italian masters. Moving to Canada, he and his family entered into business and the Marinoni bicycle came into being. This was in 1975 and Marinoni has been going since.
Giuseppe Marinoni built fundamental bicycles, rarely deviating from traditional design in the early days. Production hand built frames and custom ordered specials were a typical of his work. It has been my good fortune to own one other Marinoni bicycles, including my daily rider, a turn of the century Marinoni Squadra. My every day bicycle is considerably more modern, than the "Quebec" but it too offered truly wonderful ride qualities. NEXT - FINDING THE MARINONI "QUEBEC"
