RIDING THE GARDIN TNT

The Gardin test ride occurred on a bright and sunny winter day. The
roads, though reasonably clear, still had areas that were ice covered.
With that in mind and warmly dressed, the TNT and I took off.
I might add that I was happy with the tire tread pattern for this ride.
Even though the roads were quite bare, the idea of an aggressive tread
still appealed to my sense of safety.
Offering any information pertaining to the ride quality would be completely unfair to
the bicycle and to
anyone reading this account of the bicycle's virtues. I
only rode the TNT far enough to ensure that the frame's geometry was sound
(try riding in minus twenty degree weather for a while - even your eyeballs will
start to freeze up).
Though everything worked perfectly, I did
not give the bicycle the kind
of test that would allow for a fair ride impression evaluation.
I have ridden one other
Gardin TNT and for a considerable distance. I did like the feel of the
other TNT and I assume that, if this one had fitted me, I would soon begin to
appreciate its ride qualities.
Today, this beautiful old Canadian made Gardin lives in
eastern Canada. The new owner purchased the bicycle for "the apple of his
eye" and was very happy to have found such a nice old road bike for her.
As he and I worked our way towards completing the
Ebay deal, I mentioned that I
happened to have a vintage Gardin racing jersey. A jersey that was in excellent
condition, but certainly too small for me. He expressed his interest and
his wife, if that is a proper title in this instance, got both the Gardin
bicycle and a new/old Gardin jersey to go with it.
