SINGLE SPEED BIANCHI - INTRODUCTION
Many
vintage road bicycles, Bianchi included, were manufactured in countries
other than those of their origin. Raleigh, Peugeot and Sekine are
other big volume manufacturers who chose to set up factories in foreign
markets, and did do with the intent of maximizing profits.
Bianchi bicycles originated in Italy and the Italian
steeds are highly prized in collector's and rider's circles, alike.
The Asian Bianchi, those produce in Japan in the early eighties and
onwards, were far more common, generally of lesser cost to customers and
certainly less collectible at the time of this writing.
All that said, I have been lucky enough to own a really
nice Asian Bianchi, or two. Sadly, not one of the nicer issue
offerings proved to be an adequate fit. I still search for a
Celeste green Bianchi, of high end quality, and, knowing what I do about
quality, it matters not if it speaks Italian or Japanese. Either
will suffice.
